Ziztur's Law
Ziztur's Law:
As a political discussion regarding funding sources grows longer, the probability of an opponent’s attempts to lobby for funding being referred to as a “bailout package” approaches one.

And of course as we approach infinity the likely hood of Glen Beck declaring this the nail in the coffin of socialism is 100%.
Ugh. Glen Beck. Ranting non-stop about how anyone who's politically left of George Bush is a socialist and how important it is that real Americans buy guns.
The other day, he spent about twenty minutes frothing at the mouth about how his "feelings" that we were headed toward socialism are correct, and that he had put together a research team, and that he would have evidence proving our new socialist state soon. Seems it never occurred to him that he might not want to rant about the end of freedom and America without any evidence whatsoever, relying entirely on feelings.
Glen Beck's biggest fallacy, and it really is the one that right out the bat torpedoes every one of his books, is that he equates socialism as 100% negative. He states socialism will lead us to have "missile parades" implying we'll be like the Soviet Union. Of course the problem is, were the negative aspects of the Soviets DUE to socialistic policies? Or was there a greater problem? I'd say tyrant and sadistic despot caused that more likely. By the same argument one could argue anything democratic will lead to the gestapo since Hitler ran a democracy.
Yeah, it's as if it's a willful ignorance of the obvious fact that America has had "socialist" policies, in some way, shape, or form, for basically the country's entire history. Beck also works from the assumption that a society cannot possibly operate as a mix of capitalism and socialism, incorporating the best advantages of each.
It's truly bizarre, the assertion that the Soviet Union collapsed because of socialist economic policy, and not due to gross human rights violations. Again, America has some degree of socialist policy, and has for a very long time, while we generally do a decent job of taking care of our civil rights, and America is a very strong country.
Also ignored are the countless feudal societies that have had no over-arching government regulation at all, while violating civil and human rights just as badly as the terrible communists and socialists. Are these cultures throughout Dark Ages Europe and Japan, etc., taken as evidence against unregulated capitalism? No, they're taken as evidence against civil rights abuse. I've not yet heard a decent reason why this same standard is not applied to communist nations.
Cause commies were godless?
